The city asked Metrolinx to come to the table with options to keep the LRT underground, but Metrolinx refused and instead held a community meeting on July 26, 2022 where they doubled down on their disastrous proposal to put an elevated train expressway through our greenbelt parkland, providing misleading, not-to-scale renderings and half-truths once again. Tensions were high at the meeting and residents expressed their frustration with Metrolinx’s proposal and lack of proper community consultation. STOP was there and challenged Metrolinx’s engineers who admitted publicly after pressure that in fact going underground is completely technically feasible. There has been misinformation floating around in the community and this clears things up once and for all.
